As a top-selling broker in the history of our area, Paul Hallenbeck has been a remarkably busy man during the past 38 years. He has been one of the top brokers in Dutchess County — his work resulting in well over 1,100 sales. Now that is something to brag about. But even better, he just keeps on selling and listing properties. His clients brag about him, fellow agents admire him and wonder how he does it. One clue can be found in the words, honesty and integrity. He represents his clients, not himself. He is a professional through and through.
So how did this all start? Those who know Paul know his high energy level. After growing too many tomatoes in his garden, he decided to take a real estate course and earn some money for his two sons' college educations. Well, that was it, after school and on Saturdays he became one of the best REALTORS® in the valley. Upon his retirement from the Bulkeley School he and his wife Sally opened their own real estate office. That was in 1998. That highly successful firm merged with another highly successful firm, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Hudson Valley Properties in 2022.
However, Paul is not one dimensional. He earned a bachelor's degree in English from SUNY Geneseo and then continued to take many advanced courses as he taught students the wonder of reading, writing, listening, thinking and speaking in his English classes at Canandaigua Junior Academy. While doing that he saw the needs of his students and decided to obtain a degree in counseling from SUNY Brockport. Rhinebeck Bulkeley Middle School called, and he headed south for an interview. He loved the job he took as team leader and guidance counselor for 25 years. Paul really loves Rhinebeck as evidenced by the number of hours he has spent on the Master Plan Committee for the Town of Rhinebeck and as a member of the Board of Wilderstein. You would think there was no time for anything else, but he travels extensively, works out every day, hikes, loves to eat in fine restaurants and, of course, pampers his wife and his 6 grandchildren.
